Double Bass Repair

Double Bass Repair

We make the same high quality repairs to the double bass as we do to violins, violas or cellos.  We have seen and repaired every problem that can occur to a bass, new necks, bass bars, button doubling, edges; whole new sections etc. to the day to day repairs of gluing seams, shooting fingerboards and fitting new bridges.   Finding and curing buzzes and rattles to fine sound optimisation. The set up in particular has to be done sensitively to allow your instrument to resonate as much as it can.  We rarely see a bass we can’t improve by adjusting the sound post & bridge or dressing the fingerboard correctly.

When you visit us you will deal directly with either Gary Bridgewood, tom Neitzert or one of our excellent luthiers who will be able to examine your bass and discuss your requirements.

We will always try and arrange our repairs schedule such that your bass is out of your hands for as little time as possible, we won’t take an instrument in for repair until we have time to work on it and we have loaners available when needed. Minor adjustments and repairs are done the same day when possible.

We have outstanding workshop facilities with fabulous light set over two floors with a separate machine room, photo studio and research library.  We are well equipped with the tools necessary and expertise to make and carry out all repairs and restorations both minor and extensive.   Our luthiers are highly experienced, dedicated professionals, recruited from the top violin-making schools around the world; our knowledge is acquired from years of experience and is transferred from generation from age to age in an ethos of sharing and apprenticeship.

    Hi,

My name is Samuel Crooks and I am looking to have a pick-up taken off one double bass and put on another. It is a fishman pickup attached to the adjustable bridge. Roughly can you tell me how much this would cost?
