Matthew Coltman, a renowned British bow maker, has crafted a Late Classical Dodd Style Violin bow that pays homage to the legendary John Dodd's craftsmanship. This exquisite bow features a round stick made of high-quality Pernambuco wood, showcasing an elegant orange-brown color. The bow is complemented by a plain open ebony frog and a matching plain ebony adjuster, maintaining the classical aesthetic.
Coltman's expertise, honed during his time at the prestigious W.E. Hill & Sons and Edward Withers Ltd., is evident in the bow's construction. The stick is branded with 'MC' within a circle behind the frog, a signature of Coltman's work. Weighing 55.7 grams, this bow offers excellent balance and control for the discerning violinist.
This Dodd-style bow combines the best of classical design with modern craftsmanship, making it an ideal choice for musicians seeking a high-quality instrument that honors the rich tradition of British bow making.
The octagonal stick of Pernambuco of an orange-brown color, plain gold-mounted ebony frog with full-length peal top slide and full-height pearl backplate. Gold faceplate.
Stamped M.COLTMAN.LONDON on the shaft.
Weight 57.8 grams
