Umberto Muschietti – Italian Violin, Turin 1925

With certificate of authenticity by Eric Blot

A beautifully made Italian violin by Umberto Muschietti, Turin, 1925. An accomplished example from this respected Turinese maker, it shows the elegance and character typical of his work during the interwar years. The model follows the Stradivari tradition with graceful outlines, balanced arching, and precise workmanship throughout.

The varnish is a glowing golden orange-brown colour laid over a golden ground, attractively preserved and lending the instrument a warm, inviting appearance. The front is of fine, straight-grained spruce; the back, of one piece of lightly figured maple, is characteristic of Muschietti’s subtle aesthetic.

Tonally, the violin is both responsive and refined – with a clear, projecting top, a rich, complex middle register, and a sonorous lower range. It speaks easily under the bow and rewards the player with depth, warmth, and a lyrical quality suited to both solo and ensemble playing.

Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Eric Blot, Cremona, confirming its genuineness and excellent condition. A fine opportunity to acquire a distinctive and musically rewarding example of the 20th-century Turin school.

The back in two pieces of maple of strong, medium-fine curl running horizontally across the back from the centre joint. The ribs, pegbox and scroll of similar curl. The front in two matching pieces of spruce fine grain. The varnish of a golden orange-brown colour on an amber-brown ground.
