Violin Bow by Louis Morizot stamped ‘P.Hel A Lille’

Louis Joseph Morizot, or Morizot père began his apprenticeship as a bow maker with Eugène Cuniot-Hury, before joining the workshop of Charles Nicolas Bazin for whom he worked from about 1901 to about 1914

Circa 1914 he worked for Sartory and this experience greatly influenced his personal production.

In 1919 Louis Morizot established his own workshop at 5 rue Saint Georges in Mirecourt.

After 1920, his sons joined him has pupils with their help the Mirecourt workshop became extremely productive and well-known, supplying many firms both in France and abroad.  In 1933 he established an official partnership with his sons; “Morizot & fils,” before and after their father’s death in 1957 there output can be described as the work of “Morizot frères.”

In Paris in 1924 he won the ‘Grand Prix’ at the first exhibition Artisanale de Paris in 1924. (Meilleur Ouvrier de France).

In Paris in 1927 he won Gold medal at the Exposition Artisanale de Paris.

Louis Morizot trained many other bow makers including his five sons.

Delivery & Returns Delivery and Carriage We will deliver your goods normally within 48 hours if in stock. Returns and Cancellation If the goods you receive are faulty please return them to us in their original condition within 14 days and we will either repair or replace them or refund the cost of the goods. Please call us before returning any goods. If you choose to return any goods you must ensure that the goods are properly packaged and sent at your cost by a secure carrier: it is your responsibility to take reasonable care to ensure that they reach us undamaged.
