Get the best start you can and Sielam instruments provide this, as you begin your journey, learning a new musical instrument, it’s understandably tempting to go for the very cheapest option possible ‘just to see how it goes’. But, deep down we all know that it’s not actually the best idea…Buy with confidence and get the backup from Bridgewood and Neitzert, we will see you through your journey.
Having a good instrument on which to start studying will definitely help you or your child get the very best results possible. If you have an instrument that hasn’t been set up properly, or one that hasn’t been built as well as it should, no matter how much practise you do, it isn’t going to sound any better. We see numerous instruments brought to us for advice, the student thinks they have a technical or physical issue that is preventing their progress, these instruments upon inspection are very poor, they are so badly set up that it typically requires more money to be spent to correct them than they originally cost!! Beware, take advice from a reputable shop or teacher before buying ‘unseen’.
So, by choosing a Sielam Espressivo instrument, you will give yourself, your child or your student the best chance of advancing at a good pace, as the instrument will be capable of genuinely reflecting your own ever-growing level of skill.
Key Features:
Setup in our workshops here in the UK and ready to go:
Your new Sielam Espressivo instrument will have already been inspected and setup ‘ready to play’ in our UK workshops. This means that you can buy with confidence, take your new instrument along to your lesson and be ready to go from the off.
Your Sielam Espressivo viola is supplied as an outfit, it comes complete with what you need to get started. The instrument, also included is an oblong lightweight case with internal accessory compartments, an outer music pocket and a comfy handle too.
Very important, your Sielam Espressivo outfit includes a Brazilwood bow, without which no sound is possible. Simply tighten the hair, apply a little of the included rosin to the hair, and the bow is ready to perform… as you will be too.
Tone that will continually improve.
Sielam Espressivo instruments feature a solid spruce top – or sound-table. This is key because your instrument’s principal voice is shaped by this sound-table, the top can resonate as a single, coherent structure and sound great as a result. As the wood ages and the solid tonewood top gradually relaxes at a cellular level, it will resonate even more, and the sound will improve further. Winner all round!
Ebony – Feels great, plays great:
Sielam Espressivo violins, violas, cellos and double basses all have the advantage of a genuine Ebony fingerboard and Jujube pegs. Ebony is a prized hardwood and has traditionally been used for fingerboards and pegs for hundreds of years due to its extremely long-lasting properties. Unlike stained or ‘ebonized’ softwoods often used on student instruments, genuine Ebony will not mark, pit or wear out after lengthy periods of use. It will remain structurally sound for a long time, it feels smooth on the fingers, helping make the playing experience more pleasant all round with the added benefit that ebony enhances the tone.
A wonderful Appearance.
Sielam Espressivo instruments not only have a solid top, but they also have solid Maple ribs and backs too. These solid tonewood sections further enhance the instrument’s natural tone. The top produces the instrument’s primary voice, and the back and sides add the character.

An excellent beginner viola,
Why do I need a better viola? What’s wrong with buying an inexpensive student viola?
Our range of student instruments will take you a considerable way; Suzuki Book 3 or 4 or working on grade 3 or 4 music. Learning to use a variety of bow and left-hand techniques, you will be working on using more expression in your playing. This is all easier to master with a better quality, more responsive instrument. As well as thinking about the make of instrument it’s also advisable to consider having good quality strings and a decent setup; a poorly cut bridge or string action that is too high or too low will significantly affect the development of your playing now.
